When it comes to beauty, I only have one thing to say to every girl: shine bright like the diamond you are. We’re all Springsters so this means you are also a diamond.
Not looking like celebrities doesn’t make you unpretty. This is why my besties, Seithati and Thabi, and I started a club for girls who believe that we are gorgeous just the way we are.
I love my afro. It looks like Pearl Thusi’s, and makes me feel like a queen. My hair taught me to be comfortable in myself. It made me realise that I didn't need to change for anyone because what I have is great. Remember to keep reminding yourself this, particularly when you are feeling down!
Palesa’s skin is amazing! She glows even in winter when all of us look ashy! Her secret? Castor oil, which she buys for less than R20 at Clicks and Pick ‘n Pay. She washes her face with warm water, makes a paste with mealie powder and castor oil and rubs it in her face. She leaves it on for 30 minutes before rinsing with warm water and drying her face. She says that’s how she shows herself some love. It’s called self-care. It’s all about doing you, boo. Like taking time out to read for 30 minutes, do your nails, have a relaxing bath…
Thabi is has a colourful personality, just like her clothes. She loves turning old things into new stuff, and buys most her clothes at second hand shops. Fashion is a great way to get creative and to show your true self. Thabi says it gives her confidence because she gets to express herself all the time!
This what my crew and I love about natural beauty. It’s effortless. Nothing about the way we look is a mistake. Celebrate your looks and taste because you define beauty the way you are!
